Our beer buyer, Madeline, will be sharing tasting notes and more about our growing and varied selection of New York State craft beers.
A lot of what we carry comes from tiny breweries that you may have never heard of, so tune into Madeline’s “Notes from the Edge of the Pint Glass” on the Abundance blog to learn about what new brews we have in stock and why they’re worth a taste.
Below is Madeline’s first post.
A New Beer for the New Year
Boris the Spider is a seriously delicious and seasonal Russian Imperial Stout from Spider Bite Beer Co. out of Long Island, NY. The brewery was conceived in 2008 and distributes their product throughout New York State. In their first year of production, Boris the Spider (along with two of their other beers) won Spider Bite the F.X. Matt Memorial Cup for Best Brewery in New York State (2012).
“Eight different malts bring a complex aroma and flavor of chocolate, coffee and roasty sweetness. Just in case the winter gets too cold, we brewed this giant spider to 10% ABV.” –spiderbitebeer.com
BeerAdvocate.com gave Boris the Spider an 87/100 rating, not bad. Don’t let the price tag scare you, this big beer is worth every penny. Perfect for after dinner on a chilly night
